RedHot
The
story of FRANK'S® REDHOT® dates back to 1918 when cayenne
pepper farmer Adam Estilette got together with Jacob Frank
of the Frank Tea and Spice Company and they began to make
sauce together. Two years later, in 1920, the first bottle
of FRANK'S® RedHot® Sauce emerged from Estilette's pickling
plant in New Iberia, Louisiana. The popularity of FRANK'S®
RedHot® Cayenne Pepper Sauce grew steadily then received a
massive boost in 1964 when word got out that it was the secret
ingredient for the first ever Buffalo Wing created in Buffalo,
New York.
Durkee® Famous Foods acquired the FRANK'S® RedHot® brand in 1977 and overseen the company’s growth from strength to strength, introducing new products but retaining the core quality that has ensured the survival of this famous sauce. FRANK'S ® RedHot® grows a proprietary blend of special chile peppers in both Mexico and in New Mexico. After harvesting, a mash is made from the peppers which is then stored in New Mexico to be aged. Only after the perfect aging process has taken place is the pepper mash sent for processing at the main production plant in Springfield, Missouri. Here the pepper mash is cooked and special spices are added to give FRANK'S ® RedHot® that distinct surge of flavour for which it is renowned.
Today the FRANK'S® brand is owned by Reckitt Benckiser Inc.
but thankfully the sauces are still made with the same care
and attention to the age-old recipes.
FRANK'S®
RedHot® Original and the more recently introduced FRANK'S®
RedHot® XTRA Hot are truly versatile sauces, not just
for making chicken wings but its enjoyed by countless people
on foods ranging from pizza and pasta to popcorn and, it is
said, even ice cream.

What is the shelf life of FRANK'S® RedHot®
products? |
 |
Quality, freshness and flavor are top priorities at
FRANK'S® RedHot®. You may have noticed that we
recently changed to a BEST WHEN USED BY DATE coding system
on our packaging. This is not an expiration date. The
date stamped on shoulder or the bottom of the bottle is
the date we recommend that you use the product by to assure
the product's optimum flavor, freshness and consistent
quality. The product will generally maintain good flavor
quality for a few months after that date if refrigerated.
Refrigeration will help maintain its flavor; however,
it is not necessary if you prefer your FRANK'S® RedHot®
to be room temperature.
If your FRANK'S® RedHot® product does not have
a BEST WHEN USED BY DATE, look for the Julian date production
code on the bottle. This code consists of a letter followed
by a 5 digit number. The letter represents the manufacturing
location, the first two numbers represent the year the
product was produced and the next three numbers is the
day of the year. This would be a number from 001 - 365.
The recommended shelf life of FRANK'S® RedHot®
is 24 months from the date of manufacture. |
